A couple of months ago I picked up this beautiful hand carved ivory chess set.  Its made by Hang On Ivory Factory, based in  Hong Kong.  So far I haven't been able to gather to much information on it, but I believe it was made between the 1940s and 1960s. So I figured id just show you some pictures, and try to describe it.  My favorite part of this chess set is the detail. If you look at the second picture(the one of the horsemen) their spears are smaller than toothpicks and removable.  You can check it out on my Etsy by the link here.           https://www.etsy.com/listing/93910996/pre-ban-hand-carved-ivory-chess-set

The Purpose Behind the Man. (and a little bit about the Man)

Hi, thought id start this blog off by telling you what I do and a little bit about myself. I am thirteen years old and live in the mountains of North Georgia, as hobbies I enjoy Karate, swimming and buying and selling (or collecting) vintage and antique items, which is what this blog will be about. I would like to go ahead and apologize for any grammatical mistakes, I cut myself some slack seeings how I haven't finished school yet ;). The purpose of this blog is to share wonderful vintage/antique items with the world, and hopefully get in contact with other collectors. When I go to purchase an item I don't solely purchase because it cost this much and I can sell it for this much. Of coarse those things factor in, but I purchase an item because I like it, Ill never purchase an item I don't truly like. Another thing I look for is personality in the item, well you may say how can a inanimate object have personality? Its like this when I look at an item the first thoughts I want to come to my head is odd, special or personal. When I say personal I mean was in contact with the user or was special to someone. I personally think a doll that has some scratches and has some hair falling out because it was brushed so much is more unique than a doll that has been in box its whole life, but is in superb condition; it has more of a connection with the purchaser. So the purpose of this entry was to introduce you to my blog, and myself.
